What you can do with the Instagram Following Tracker

The Instagram Following Tracker shows which accounts a public profile starts or stops following between completed checks. See names, profiles and detection times together, instead of trying to remember an earlier list.

Use those changes to find creators worth exploring, follow a competitor’s interests or prepare a more focused research shortlist. For a broader view of incoming and outgoing connections, see the Instagram follower tracking overview.

  • Find names behind following changes
  • Spend less time comparing lists
  • Return to a growing activity history

How to use the Instagram Following Tracker

From a public username to a record you can use.

  1. Find the public account

Enter a username in the Instagram Following Tracker. Preview the Following list and read its source label: current names are different from additions already detected through tracking.

Your starting point: the right profile

  2. Choose Following tracking

Sign in to Instoryview, select Following and choose a supported check frequency. Review the quoted scan cost before confirming. The first complete scan saves your baseline and uses credits.

Your setup: list, frequency and cost

  3. Review the new connections

After another complete scan, the Instagram Following Tracker shows detected additions and removals. Open the activity timeline, read the event labels and explore the public profiles relevant to your research.

Your result: names and detected changes

PUT IT TO WORK

Instagram Following Tracker use cases

Turn public connection changes into a more focused next step.

Creator discovery

Build a shortlist of potential partners

A clothing brand starts following several stylists and photographers. Those public connections give your team a starting point for finding people to research for an upcoming shoot.

How to use it

Use the Instagram Following Tracker to review the new names. Visit their profiles, compare their work with your brief and shortlist the creators who fit.

What you gain

Spend less time sorting through a whole following list and more time assessing relevant work. A follow is a research lead, not proof of a partnership.

Find connections to explore

Competitor research

Keep your next research session focused

You revisit a studio’s public account each week. Scrolling the same list makes it hard to distinguish new suppliers, event organizers or creative contacts from names you have already seen.

How to use it

Let the Instagram Following Tracker compare saved lists. Review detected changes during your next research session, then check the profiles for context.

What you gain

Start with what changed, keep clearer research notes and avoid rebuilding your shortlist from memory.

Know which direction changed

The Instagram Following Tracker covers outgoing connections: who the tracked account follows. A new follower belongs to the opposite list, even when the same person appears in both.

For example, a studio following a photographer is a new follow. It does not mean the photographer follows the studio back.

Look beyond the total

An account can add two names and remove two others while its following count stays the same. The Instagram Following Tracker identifies names when complete lists are compared.

An unchanged count alone does not prove that the list stayed the same. Check the last completed comparison for context.

Use the detection time

A record tells you when Instoryview found the difference. Several records may share a time because they came from the same comparison.

Read the event type, name and detection time together in the activity timeline. That gives your research a clear reference without claiming an exact Instagram action time.

What to expect from the Instagram Following Tracker

Recent detection is different from list position

The Instagram Following Tracker labels detected changes separately from a current list preview. A name near the top of a preview is not proof of a recent follow.

Changes can happen between checks

Checks compare saved lists at separate times. A follow reversed before the next complete scan may not appear. History starts with the comparisons Instoryview has actually recorded.

A removed follow does not explain the reason

An account may disappear because of an unfollow or because it became unavailable. Review the profile for context; a removal alone does not explain why a connection ended.

Only if Instoryview already recorded those changes. Otherwise, the first complete scan establishes a starting point. A new lookup cannot reconstruct who an Instagram account followed last week or restore a history that was never collected.

No. Tracking needs a supported public Instagram account and an accessible following list. A public profile can still have an unavailable list, so setup checks eligibility before you start.

The Instagram Following Tracker does not need your Instagram login or password. Preview lookups use available daily credits. Sign in to Instoryview for ongoing tracking; completed list scans use credits. See list scan costs before choosing a schedule.

Yes, when both lists are eligible. Choose both during setup to include new followers and lost followers alongside following changes. Each list has its own scan cost, and follower tracking has additional account limits.
