What PenguinRadar tracks
PenguinRadar compares follower and following lists across completed checks to identify changes in supported public accounts.
- New followers: Accounts newly detected in the follower list.
- Follower removals: Accounts missing from a later compared follower list.
- New follows: Accounts newly detected in the following list.
- Following removals: Accounts missing from a later compared following list.
Results show the accounts involved and when each change was detected. You can review changes across a selected period and follow activity as tracking continues.
Discover recently followed Instagram accounts
Start tracking a public account’s following list to discover newly detected follows.
PenguinRadar identifies accounts that appear in later list comparisons, helping you review new connections over time. Each detected change includes the account involved and its detection date.
A current following list provides a view of available connections. Tracking establishes which accounts are newly detected after the starting baseline.
Review new followers and unfollows
Follow changes in a supported account’s audience. Review newly detected followers and accounts removed from its follower list, alongside changes in the accounts it follows.
List comparisons help identify who changed. Follower and following totals provide additional context, while the activity timeline brings detected changes together by date.
An unchanged total can still contain changes in list membership—for example, one account joining while another leaves.

How tracking works
- Choose a public account. Enter an Instagram username or profile link.
- Select the lists to track. Choose followers, following or both, depending on account eligibility.
- Establish a baseline. The first complete list provides the starting point.
- Review subsequent changes. Later completed comparisons identify additions and removals.
Detection dates show when PenguinRadar found a difference. They do not establish the exact time an Instagram action happened.
Tracking begins with the initial baseline and does not reconstruct a complete earlier history. Coverage depends on account eligibility and data availability. Incomplete lists can delay comparisons, and changes that happen between checks may go undetected.
Explore public accounts and export available lists
Use PenguinRadar’s viewers to explore an account before or alongside tracking.
Watch available public stories and highlights, browse accessible posts and reels, check available post likes, and explore follower and following lists. You can also export available follower or following records to CSV for further review.
PenguinRadar does not ask for your Instagram password. Some features require a PenguinRadar account or a paid plan.

Understand tracking results with AI
AI gives you another way to review the changes PenguinRadar detects.
Read AI summaries for an overview, or ask AI Analyst questions about available account data and tracking results:
- “Which new follows were detected this week?”
- “What changed in this account’s followers?”
- “Summarize the detected changes during this period.”
Charts, mutual-follow analysis and network views provide additional context for exploring account connections.
AI uses the observations available to PenguinRadar. Detected changes describe differences in public account data; they do not establish a person’s intentions or explain why a connection changed.
Bring PenguinRadar into your AI workflow
Use PenguinRadar data in an assistant, a terminal or your own application. The Skill, CLI, MCP and API provide access to available account details, follower and following lists, and detected changes.
PenguinRadar Skill
Use the PenguinRadar Skill with compatible assistants, including Codex, Claude Code and Cursor. Ask your assistant to review available account data and detected changes through an authenticated CLI or MCP connection.
The Skill helps explain observation dates, data sources and partial coverage.
PenguinRadar CLI
Read your tracked accounts, available lists and detected changes from the command line. Use JSON output to bring results into scripts and agent workflows.
The CLI also supports explicitly budgeted online lookups of public accounts.
ChatGPT Plugin preview and MCP
Connect PenguinRadar to ChatGPT and other compatible assistants through its remote MCP server. Once authorized, an assistant can read your available account data and detected changes within a conversation.
The PenguinRadar ChatGPT Plugin preview bundles the Skill and remote MCP configuration for hosts that support local Plugin installation. The Plugin is available as a preview; ChatGPT access uses a compatible MCP connection.
Plugin and MCP connection guide
PenguinRadar API
Build workflows around account details, follower and following lists, and detected changes. The API provides the underlying data access used by PenguinRadar’s CLI and MCP tools.
How connected tools use credits
Connected tools read existing data by default without triggering a new collection charge. Fresh online queries require explicit authorization and a credit budget.
Continuous tracking is configured in PenguinRadar. Connecting a Skill, CLI or MCP client does not automatically start tracking an account.
Plans and credits
Viewer lookups and tracking use credits. Continuous tracking, AI summaries and AI Analyst are available on paid plans.
Account eligibility, list size and the selected operation affect what is available and how credits are used. See the pricing page for current plans, allowances and scan costs.
Common questions
Can I track another public Instagram account?
Yes, when the account and its lists meet PenguinRadar’s tracking requirements. Private or inaccessible lists cannot be tracked.
Can PenguinRadar show exactly when someone followed or unfollowed?
Results show when PenguinRadar detected a change between completed comparisons. The exact Instagram action time may be unknown.
Can I see changes from before tracking started?
Tracking begins with an initial baseline. It does not reconstruct a complete history from before that baseline.
Do I need AI to use the tracker?
No. You can review detected changes directly. AI summaries, AI Analyst and connected assistants provide additional ways to explore the results.
Can I export followers and following?
Yes. CSV export includes the records available in your results. Coverage depends on the data accessible for that account.
