Accounts and tracking
List the accounts you track, or read one account's existing profile and totals.
List your tracked accounts
GET /open-api/v1/tracking?limit=50
Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY| Parameter | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
includeArchived | boolean | Include readable removed items. Default false: active and paused accounts only. |
limit | integer | 1–100. Default 50. |
cursor | string | The nextCursor from the previous page. |
Each item has id, username, fullName, avatarUrl, isPrivate, isVerified, status, trackedLists, followerCount, followingCount, profileAsOf and listSnapshots, which holds separate followers and following timestamps. status is active, paused or archived. No per-account source calls are needed. A tracked account that is private or was removed from Instoryview is not listed.
The top-level meta.asOf is null because accounts are observed at different times. Read each item's own timestamps.
Read an account profile
GET /open-api/v1/accounts/alice
Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY| Field | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
id | string | Stable account ID. Keep it alongside the username. |
username | string | Current Instagram username. |
fullName | string or null | Display name. |
isPrivate, isVerified | boolean or null | Private and verified status. |
followerCount, followingCount | integer or null | Profile totals. null when unknown. |
avatarUrl | string or null | Absolute signed link to the latest known picture, valid for about a day. Don't store it. |
trackedLists | array | The list types you can read: followers, following. Empty for an untracked account. |
The profile comes from a stored profile or reusable public query data. This GET never calls Instagram data sources to fill in missing fields. meta.asOf is when the profile was observed, which can differ from a follower snapshot's time.
Usernames can change
Use username for the first request, then keep the stable string id in your own records. Pagination stays tied to that ID. Instagram recycles usernames: when two accounts have used the same one, the API reads the account you track (otherwise the one seen most recently) and adds the warning username_reused, so check the id. Only if you track both accounts does it return account_changed.
Totals are not list lengths
An account can show followerCount: 1200 while its available follower snapshot holds 850 observed members. Neither number is the length of the current page. See Followers and following for list responses.
